Healing from Hidden Wounds: Breaking Free from What’s Holding You Back
I’ve met so many women on my journey who appear to be whole from the outside, but if you take a closer look, you can see that they’re bleeding on the inside. Just like the woman with the issue of blood, they’re carrying hidden pain, pain they feel they can’t share with others because it’s too raw, too vulnerable. We often see ourselves through the lens of what others expect us to be. We put on a mask, pretending that everything is fine, but inside, we are struggling, depleted, and searching for healing.
In Luke 8:43-48, we read the story of a woman who had been bleeding for twelve years. Twelve long years of suffering, isolation, and hopelessness. She tried everything to be healed physicians, treatments, prayers but nothing worked. She was physically drained, emotionally empty, and spiritually disconnected. She was invisible, cast aside by society because of her condition. She was shamed, hiding behind her issue, just trying to survive.
I think about her often because I see so many women walking around today with similar struggles. They’re bleeding financially, mentally, physically, and spiritually. They’re exhausted, living a life of depletion, but hiding it well. Maybe it’s from a toxic relationship, overwhelming responsibilities, or years of emotional pain that has never been addressed. They keep moving, but they are not whole.
The woman with the issue of blood did something radical in her time. She reached out in faith. She took a step of action, even when the crowd seemed like an insurmountable barrier. She had spent years in silence and shame, but in that moment, she made a decision to get help. She didn’t just wait for a miracle to fall in her lap; she moved toward it. And in doing so, she was healed not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually too.
I believe many of us are just like this woman. We’re bleeding in ways that no one can see. We hide behind the shame of our struggles because we’re afraid others will think less of us. We feel like if we show our vulnerability, we’ll be rejected or misunderstood. But the truth is, God wants us to bring our brokenness to Him. He wants us to reach out in faith, just like this woman did. He is waiting to heal us, to restore us, and to make us whole again.
It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been bleeding, how many years you’ve carried the weight of your struggles, it’s never too late to seek healing. And sometimes, healing isn’t just about physical restoration. It’s about healing the emotional wounds, the spiritual emptiness, and the shame that holds us back from walking in our true purpose.
You are not defined by your past or your pain. You are worthy of healing, joy, and freedom. Just like this woman, you can reach out in faith and believe that God has the power to heal and restore every part of you.
No matter where you’ve been or what you’ve been through, your story is not over. The woman with the issue of blood was made whole through her faith, and so can you be. It’s time to take that step, reach out to God, and let Him heal every part of your life.
